Gamma Theta Upsilon - GTU

Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU) is a national and international honor society for person interested in geography.  It encourages rigorous academic work and research.  As such, the society promotes geography as a practical and cultural experience.

At Eastern Illinois University, the Rho Chapter of GTU is advised by Dr. Gutowski.  During its history here, GTU has initiated over 550 members since organization in 1944.

In past semesters members have organized trips to the various sites of interest along the Mississippi River, to Grand Isle State Park (a barrier island along the Gulf Coast), and a whitewater rafting trip on (and in) the Chatooga River of the southern Appalachians.  Dr. Khan has also led GTU members to Cahokia Mounds near St. Louis.

Each semester is ended with a traditional "Last Supper" and pool lessons given by Dr. Gutowski.
