Study Literary Masterworks in England at Harlaxton Manor Spend five weeks living at Harlaxton Manor, reading and discussing great works of English literature and traveling to famous literary landscapes. The English Department at Eastern Illinois University annually hosts a five-week summer Study Abroad Program to Harlaxton Manor in Grantham, England. Eastern faculty are also in residence at Harlaxton during the spring semester each year, and EIU students may study there in fall or spring. Program: Study Abroad (6 Sem. Hrs.) Literary Masterworks - Literary Landscapes. This is an opportunity for students of all majors to read some of England's most revered writers. We will see a Shakespeare play at the new Globe theatre in London and visit other London sites. Weekends are free for your own travel plans in England and Europe. Informational meetings will be held during the fall 2002 semester. Credit: 6 Sem. Hrs. English majors receive credit in the major; non-majors receive credit for 3010G and upper division English; English graduate students receive graduate credit (research project proposal required). Includes Transportation: Roundtrip from Chicago's O'Hare to Harlaxton Manor. Transportation for all class trips included. Includes Lodging: At Harlaxton Manor, a 100 room nineteenth-century manor house owned and operated by the University of Evansville. Meals included.
