AWARDS
Eastern
Illinois University's Alcohol and Other Drug Coalition was recently awarded
The
Extra Mile Award presented for exemplary college and community alcohol
and other drug and traffic safety problem prevention efforts at the Campus
Alcohol and Traffic Safety Conference.
Applications
for this award were judged by a team of IHEPP staff members, IDOT staff
members and a representative of each of the past recipient schools.
Criteria
for the award include:

Participation
in the Policies and Programs Prevention Steering Committee
-
Attendance
and leadership participation at the Campus Alcohol and Traffic Safety Conference
-
Participation
in Policies and Programs, Illinois Higher Education Prevention Training
Institute, and other statewide and regional training opportunities for
traffic safety and/or substance abuse prevention
-
Cooperation
with and support of community prevention efforts
-
Participation
in National Drunk and Drugged Drive (3D) Prevention Month
-
Participation
in National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week and other nationally observed
prevention efforts
-
Active
student or peer led groups on campus such as BACCHUS and GAMMA, Peer Educators,
SADD, etc.

Regular
evaluation of campus prevention activities
-
Creation
of traffic safety problem prevention and alcohol and other drug prevention
programming unique to the individual campus that demonstrates the IHEs
commitment to going the "Extra Mile" to insure the health and safety of
students, faculty, staff and other community members.

Support
of the IHEs prevention programming as demonstrated in writing from the
office of the IHEs president or other appropriate administrator.
Applications may include other letters of support as appropriate.
