Have you noticed students in one or more of your classes with the following characteristics:
Under prepared for university level coursework
Sudden change in behavior and/or appearance
Excessive absences without explanation
Consistently disruptive or disengaged
A referral to the Student Success Center may be the key to help get them back on track.
Visit www.eiu.edu/~success
Look under Faculty heading (on the left side)
Click the link to the Student Referral Network (SRN)
How to use the SRN:
Identify a student in need of extra support
Log in to the SRN using your secure EIU NetID and Password
Submit the student's name, email address, and reason for referral
FAQ:
Will the student know who has referred her?
As a matter of courtesy, it is recommended that faculty members talk with any student when there is some concern about the student's academic progress. However, the student will not see the referral and will not know who referred her unless the referring professor tells the student.
What happens after a student is referred?
A staff member from the SSC will contact the student to let him know one of his professors has expressed a concern and to invite him into the office for a 1:1 consultation.
