Criteria for Beginning Freshmen
All admission criteria are listed a guidelines. They are minimum requirements and do not guarantee admission to the University.

Fall 2004 applications completed prior to November 15, 2003 will be considered on a rolling basis using written academic guidelines.
Fall 2004 applications
completed after November 15, 2003, will be
reviewed in the context of the competitive applicant pool. All
will be considered upon academic policies, proven academic success
and
space availability.
Eastern Illinois University seeks an academically motivated, well-prepared
and diverse student body. We give priority to those that meet these
challenges.
College Preparatory English |
Four years of English emphasizing composition, grammar, and literature. As much as one year of the requirement may be satisfied by two semesters in any combination of drama, debate, public speaking, or journalism. |
College Preparatory Mathematics |
Three years of mathematics including algebra, geometry, advanced mathmatics, or computer programming. |
College Preparatory Science |
Three years of natural sciences with signifigant laboratory experiences. |
College Preparatory Social Studies |
Three years of social studies including one year of United States history and/or government. |
Electives |
Two years of academic or vocational electives. |
Foreign Language |
The University does not require foreign language as an entrance requirement but does require one year (six semester hours) in a single foreign language in its general education program. Students with two years of a single foreign language in high school with a "C" average will be considered to have met this requirement. |
