About the College . . .
Consisting of
the departments of Art, Communication Studies, English, Foreign Languages, History, Journalism,
Music, Philosophy, Theatre Arts, along with
the study areas of African-American Studies, Social Science Studies and
Women's Studies, and the Tarble Arts Center the College of Arts
and Humanities offers a well-rounded curriculum both in the
creative and performing arts and in the humanities. The program
is designed to develop free and rational men and women committed
to the pursuit of knowledge, intelligently appreciative both of
their common and their diverse cultural heritage, and conscious
of the
social and moral obligations. The various programs in the
College
stress critical thinking, analysis, creativity, and written and oral communication to prepare students
to master the specific skills of
any profession.
